Cherry Pierogi - 9 per pack
Before the days of depitting cherries, this was the only way to make sure that "someone" (my sister) hadn't eaten more perogies than me! We called this pit counting. There is truly nothing better than just boiled BC cherry pierogi buttered (or oiled) with a splash of half and half cream and a spoonful (or two) of sugar.
A recent trip to Kelowna has allowed me to offer cherries hand picked from the Lakeshore Orchard. This year in particular the cherries are all the more special as a week of cold weather in February has resulted in a visibly smaller yield of what the orchards have to offer.
Cooking instructions:
- My personal recommendation is to enjoy these pierogi freshly boiled (put in boiling water for 2-3 min), then saute in butter or oil (vegan option). Accessorise by topping with half and half cream and a sugar of your choice (So-Delicious Cocowhip is a great vegan substitute for the cream).
